Located on the out skirts of Canberra, Callum Brae Nature Reserve is always worth a visit. As I make return trips I will add more content to this article.

Callum Brae Reserve preserves a large area of endangered Yellow Box (Eucalyptus melliodora) and Blakely’s Red Gum (E. blakelyi) community. One of the highlights of this area is the high number of mature trees with nesting hollows. This woodland is bordered by extensive grasslands. There isn't much of the native understorey left due a big population of kangaroos. There are a few introduced weeds such as blackberry that are providing good bird habitat. During my visits I have found the area bordering Mugga Lane to be a great place to locate birds. The birds that I have photographed or were seen on this site include:

Flame Robin
Striated Thornbill
White-winged Chough
